OAKRIDGE, Ore. - The lightning-sparked Emigrant Fire continues to burn 20 miles southeast of Oakridge and is currently at 31,453 acres with zero percent containment, according to Willamette National Forest officials.

U.S. Forest Service officials said that more than 1,100 personnel are battling the blaze with six helicopters and 27 crews engaged in active firefighting efforts. Fire suppression is focused on critical areas near Bug Lake and Forest Service Roads 2136 and 300. These operations aim to manage the fire's spread by burning fuel along primary control lines, providing firefighters with an anchor point for direct engagement.
