Chugach Electric has introduced a new initiative called Cents of Community , designed to help local charitable organizations in the area they serve. The program rounds up members’ monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar, donating the extra change to a community foundation.

How the Program Works

Julie Hasquet from Chugach Electric explains the program:

"Rounds your bill up to the nearest dollar, and that money will go to a foundation that will be managed by other Chugach members. A board of trustees has been set up, and they will take grant applications, look at them and distribute money to 563 charitable organizations."

In 2023, Chugach Electric's members voted and approved the program.
