American Charter Academy Breaks Ground

A charter academy in the Mat-Su Valley will soon have a permanent new home. The Mat-Su Borough School District shared these photos on social media. Ground was broken Thursday on the American Charter Academy's new 30,000-square-foot home in Wasilla. It's on the corner of Church Road and Seldon Road. The hope is to have this project completed by August of next year.

Alaska Superintendent of the Year

Congratulations, Dr. Randy Trani, Alaska's 2026 Superintendent of the Year. Born in Denver, Colorado -- but raised in Cordova -- Dr. Trani has led the Mat-Su Borough School District since 2020. He was presented with his award at this week's school board meeting.
