Anchorage city leaders say hosting last month’s summit between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin cost the city roughly $200,000.
The meeting, held at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, was aimed at discussing an end to the war in Ukraine.
City officials say most expenses were for personnel, primarily additional police staffing. The Anchorage Fire Department also incurred some costs.
Final numbers from all city departments are not expected for a few more weeks. Officials say the municipality plans to request reimbursement from the federal government.
The mayor’s office says they will provide updates as a more detailed accounting becomes available.
