WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A D.C. man was sentenced Tuesday for stabbing two people, one of whom is a correctional officer, the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia announced Friday.

The USAO states Chauncy Myers, 31, received seven years in prison followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in March to charges of aggravated assault while armed and attempted assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to court documents, on July 13, 2024, a victim was talking with friends in Triangle Park in Southeast D.C. when Myers approached them and stabbed the victim in the abdomen before running away. The USAO states the victim sustained severe organ damage from the encounter.
