California State Senator Sabrina Cervantes said she will be announcing legal action against the city of Sacramento and members of the Sacramento Police Department.
The action stems from May 19, when Cervantes was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs following a crash at 14th and S streets when she was on her way to work at the Capitol. She suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Officers at the hospital said they saw signs of intoxication and conducted a DUI investigation that led to Cervantes being cited, police said, without getting specific. Officers later clarified she did not show signs of being drunk or under the influence, specifically of alcohol.
Cervantes has maintained her innocence since then, and tox
