In July, law enforcement officials in Northern California warned the public that they would be 'wildly surprised' by massive illegal fireworks fines that would be sent in the mail after Independence Day. Despite warnings, several residents throughout the Sacramento region continued to shoot colorful, yet illegal, explosives into the sky.

Many people thought they got away with lighting illegal fireworks on the Fourth because they didn't receive a ticket that night. However, Law enforcement was driving around in unmarked vehicles and flying drones over known hotspots
