The North Central Regional Transit District announced Friday it has a new executive director who will take the helm in late October.

Nicholas Sofoul, who has 15 years of transit industry experience, has been appointed to lead the regional transit district's Blue Bus system, succeeding longtime Executive Director Anthony Mortillaro, who is retiring after more than a decade with the transportation system.

“I welcome the opportunities ahead and look forward to working with the dedicated Blue Bus team and community partners to advance [the North Central Regional Transit District's] role as a vital catalyst for regional mobility, economic growth, and quality of life throughout the district,” Sofoul said in a statement.
