MASON CITY, Iowa — Jared Doerfler, founder of Hanna Golf, has been named the August 2025 Entrepreneur of the Month by the NIACC John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and North Iowa Area SBDC.

Doerfler, a former University of Northern Iowa golfer, turned a long-standing passion into a business by designing custom putters. Inspired by a unique putter he used in college, he decided to create his own after years of searching.

"I spent years searching for that putter online and could never find it," Doerfler said.

With no prior machining experience, Doerfler quit his job in 2023 to focus full-time on Hanna Golf. "I had never seen a CNC mill before I bought one," he said.

His persistence paid off with a successful partnership with Bridgestone Golf, where a limited edition of 12 putters sold
