A clothes dryer caused a residential structure fire in Moberly Friday morning.

The Moberly Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on the 800 block of South Williams Street, around 9:49 a.m, according to news release.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a basement fire with smoke and flames showing from a clothes dryer.

Crews were able to control and extinguish the fire in the basement's laundry room area, preventing damage to the rest of the house, according to the news release.

No injuries were reported, and no one was inside the residence upon arrival, according to the news release.
