BANGOR -- The Elks Club of Bangor got a financial boost to continue its work.
It's a grant that comes from the Elks National Foundation, and it will go to support their community investment program. As part of the program, the Elks have supported local food pantries to the tune of over $11,000 in food donations. That's not the only way the Elks help the community.
"We have our Elks National Foundation. We support Maine children's cancer programs. And so many other things. We give out hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school seniors every year. That's what we are all about. Elks share. Elks care," said Randy Bates, exalted ruler of the Bangor Elks Lodge 244.
