LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville father charged after 5-year-old son dies from suspected abuse, police say

A 5-year-old boy has died from injuries that doctors say were consistent with assault, Louisville Metro Police say.

Laron Gardner, 24, of Louisville, has been charged in connection with the child’s death.

Metrosafe received a call Tuesday afternoon about an unconscious child at a home on Conestoga Avenue . Louisville EMS said the boy reportedly fell down a flight of stairs, but his injuries were more severe than consistent with a fall. He was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
