A pedestrian was life flighted to an area hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Route 6 in Farmington on Friday night.

Officers responded to a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on Route 6, also known as Colt Highway, in the area of Farmington Chase Crescent around 8:05 p.m. on Friday, according to the Farmington Police Department .

Police said the pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital by Life Star.

The collision is under investigation by the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad, according to police. Route 6 was expected to be closed for several hours as part of the investigation.
