PORTLAND, Maine — Portland Gear Hub and United Recovery Fund partnered to donate 15 refurbished bikes to United Recovery's clients. To maximize their impact, M&T Bank provided grant funding for both organizations, allowing them to continue doing positive work in the community.
United Recovery Fund supports people who are in continuous recovery from substance use disorder. Their clients work towards rebuilding their lives with encouragement from the recovery community.
Many of them are learning how to be independent again, and they often use bikes to get around. Sometimes they bike to work, to appointments, to the grocery store, and anywhere within a reasonable distance.
