HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - Just one day after a tragedy stole the life of Phillip, better known as Andrew McBride, one woman describes the agony his mom and brother are now experiencing.

Tammy, who only wanted to use her first name, is a close family friend. She brought McBride’s mom and brother to the growing memorial in front of the Little Caesars on Laburnum Avenue.

Which is where he worked, before a tractor-trailer overturned, on top of him, killing him.

“He would work outside for about 15 minutes and then go inside. He wasn’t just a flag turner; he was so much more than that,” Tammy said.

Friday night, she tells 12 On Your Side, in addition to spinning the Little Caesars sign, McBride helped mix the pizza sauce and fill the drink machine at the Henrico pizza shop.

He was a quiet soul
