Ineeded a little boost of confidence. The Spartan Trifecta was in a week, but I wasn’t sure that the Monday morning workout at CrossFit WV would do that.

“Looks rough,” somebody said. “Looks really bad.”

This wasn’t just Monday. It was Labor Day, and CrossFit gyms sometimes take holidays as special opportunities to ratchet up the workouts. This is maybe to take the edge off the guilt from the inevitable overindulgences that come with a holiday.

On Memorial Day, CrossFit gyms “Murph,” which involves sandwiching a bunch of pushups, pullups and air squats between two, one-mile runs.

But there have also been special workouts on West Virginia Day, Independence Day and Thanksgiving.

Today’s workout was called “Kabul.”
