MOSINEE – On a cold September night, it was Mosinee standing tall in the first Great Northern clash of the season for both teams, knocking off Merrill 21-14 at home on Friday, Sept. 5.

The win granted Mosinee their first conference win of the season, and it did not come without having to earn it, as Merrill refused to go down quietly.

It also puts the Indians back in the win column after losing on the road at Menasha on Aug. 29 after a state-shattering win over reigning Division 5 champions Stratford to open the season.

The Indians are looking to regain control of the Great Northern conference for the first time since 2023, and Friday night’s win against the Blue Jays was just the first step in a long journey.
