BRADENTON, Fla. — A woman from Bradenton thought she was being scammed but ended up $100,000 richer.

According to a post on Facebook from the Bradenton Police Department, Detective Jim Curulla from the Elder Fraud Unit, received a call from Barbara. She told the detective that multiple law firms and private investigators had been calling her to offer help to claim the money.

Barbara thought the money did not belong to her, according to the police department's post.

As Det. Curulla reviewed the case, he found that she was being contacted by companies attempting to assist her with legitimate claims to the Florida Department of Financial Services.
