LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A $5,400 first printing of Harry Potter is not the only reason to visit the newest bookshop in Las Vegas—but if it is, staff have a rare gem you might pair with it.

Joshua Dana, owner of Mad Red Books, celebrated the first successful month of his bookshop as customers perused the over 12,000 selection. Behind lock and key, another collection is available for readers seeking something more unique.

“Our goal is that a person can come in here once a week and almost always see something new on the shelf,” he said.

Amid the rare collection: First edition Old Man and the Sea, a J.K. Rowling signed first printing Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and an original Star Trek script signed by the author. However, Dana said the rare books go well with something else.
