It may not have been exactly how Coach Scott Barney drew it up, but the Sudbury Wolves improved to 2-1 in the pre-season with a 6-5 shootout victory over the visiting Soo Greyhounds on Friday night at the Sudbury Community Arena.
The Wolves scored on their first shot of the game to go up 1-0, but were sloppy for much of the first half of the game and trailed 4-2 midway through the second period. Sudbury then stormed back to lead 5-4, but a late goal by the Greyhounds with 3:39 remaining in regulation pushed it directly to a shootout, since there’s no overtime in exhibition action.
Veteran Kieron Walton and newcomer Vladamir Provorov scored in the shootout to seal the victory for the Wolves. Provorov was one of five Sudbury players to score in regulation, along with Hudson Chitaroni, Chas
