The state Climate Change department said on Saturday afternoon that it intended to hazard reduction burn in a 52 hectare area near Seahampton and that it would likely take two to three days, including mop-up and patrol operations.

The low intensity burn aims to reduce fuel loads in the conservation area to help protect the town from future bushfires. It also aims to improve the park's biodiversity and provide safer access for firefighters.

Smoke may impact residents in Seahampton and road users in the area. People vulnerable to smoke are encouraged to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed to reduce exposure.
