PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward says that he could still sit out against the New York Jets despite practicing for two days this week.

Heyward says his status is still up in the air with no reworked contract. He and the team have had conversations about a new deal, but Heyward did not sound that optimistic.

“I’m preparing. We still have time. We’ll see,” Heyward said. “...I wish I could be optimistic. I don’t have all the answers.”

So, could that mean that without a deal Heyward is going to sit out, too? Heyward did not commit to that one way or another, either, keeping it up in the air. With no firm stance, it is anyone’s guess what Heyward will do.
