ALLEN PARK — Five of the Detroit Lions‘ six captains for the 2025 season have donned the “C” patch on their uniforms before.

And then there’s Grant Stuard, a newcomer who’s quickly fit — scratch that, he’s accentuated — the culture in Detroit. Stuard signed with the Lions in March knowing there would be an opportunity to become Detroit’s special teams ace. It was a vacancy previously occupied by Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who was released this offseason.

Stuard’s been as advertised. His hair-on-fire attitude makes you forgot he’s only been a member of the Lions for six months. Clearly, his teammates felt similarly, voting him a captain Monday. Head coach Dan Campbell made the announcement at the end of Monday’s practice, allowing each of the captains to address the roster.
