At the top of the August amateur photo contest is Marianne Myrick’s beautiful photo of the water lily plants in the pond near the Robert R. McCormick House at Cantigny in Wheaton. In second place is Bob Warren’s photo of a Great Blue Heron snapping up a bass in his strong bill while wading through the waters of Lake Zurich. The Lake Zurich resident said the photo took several minutes to capture the fishing excursion.
