At least 24 people have been left injured as Typhoon Peipah hit central Japan.

Some 40 houses in the Shizuoka Prefecture were damaged after the tropical storm made it’s way through early on Friday afternoon.

Tiles were blown off roofs and utility poles collapsed in the strong winds.

Three people were severely wounded in the Makinohara municipality, and 20 others were injured.

In Shizouka, shops and homes were damaged by the strong gusts and multiple people were injured from smashed glass.
