The beat goes on. The Cubs win again, roll to their 81st win and match their season-high at 21 games over .500. On a day when the wind was offense favorable, for what feels like only a handful of times this year, it was fortuitous to jump out to an early lead. The Cubs scored five in the first, one in the second and the remainder of the game was 5-5. Sequencing could have been vastly different if the score were different. But, with this sequencing, the Cubs post yet another double-digit scoring game and coast to a win.

This win felt like it happened over and over again early in the season. But it has gotten increasingly uncommon, so it’s nice to see. I don’t care that the Nationals aren’t great. The Cubs have been stifled by plenty of mediocre pitchers but they were not on Friday afternoo
