U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville raised slightly more than $1 million for his campaign for governor in August, raising his total to $6.25 million since he launched the campaign in May.

Tuberville's finance report for August, filed on Wednesday, listed about 1,000 contributions.

The vast majority were from individuals from inside and outside Alabama. About 40 contributions were from businesses.

The report showed a total of $687,848 in contributions.

Tuberville raised another $340,000 during August that the campaign reported separately, 11 contributions of $20,000 or more.
