The Powerball jackpot has soared to an estimated $1.8 billion after no one won the jackpot's top prize in the Sept. 3 drawing. According to lottery officials, the jackpot is now the second-largest in the game's history.
While the jackpot was not claimed, a total of 15 tickets matched all five white balls. Eleven of those each won a $1 million prize. The $1 million-winning tickets were sold in California (2), Colorado, Florida, Georgia (2), Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to Powerball.
The other four tickets increased their winnings to $2 million, by purchasing the Power Play option, according to lottery officials. The $2 million-winning tickets were sold in Michigan, Oregon, Texas and Wyoming, according to Powerball.
