For Eduardo Nazario and his future wife, Tracey (née Newcombe), it was love at first sight. Every day, from his window, Nazario saw the woman of his dreams sitting out on the bus bench. He decided he had to meet her, and started offering her rides in his car. The two fell in love and enjoyed a 47-year-long marriage.

Tracey Nazario, who forged a successful career with the NYPD, died on Aug. 26 at the age of 70. The cause of death was lung cancer.

Born and raised in West Brighton, Nazario was the second child of five born to Arthur and Rosetta Newcomb . Her father was a bus driver and a World War II vet; her mother was a dedicated volunteer in her local Staten Island community.
