Doctor Who spinoff star Gugu Mbatha-Raw has praised showrunner Russel T. Davies, following the show's divisive season 15. Davies initially received acclaim for overseeing the original Doctor Who revival show, from 2005-2010, and was instrumental in the development of the fan-favorite Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant.

After departing Doctor Who in 2010, Davies returned to the show in 2023, and took the series in a very different direction, which proved divisive with audiences. Mbatha-Raw is set to star in upcoming Doctor Who spinoff, and Whoniverse show, The War Between the Land and the Sea , and took the time to heap praise on Davies.
