When I heard that President Donald Trump had ordered an attack on a ship off the coast of Venezuela, I was furious ( “Trump says US strike on vessel in Caribbean targeted Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang, killed 11,” Sept. 2). When I saw the video of the attack, I was incensed.

When President Trump sent an armada to put pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, I was unsure what might occur. An invasion? A bombing? A blockade? Now I know that a ruthless and brazen violation of international law would take place. Trump was the judge, the jury and the executioner.

Presumably, there was no attempt to contact the ship or to board it. Do I believe anything said by Trump about this incident? No, of course not. This senseless act was taken from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s playboo
