KALAMAZOO, MI – A non-fatal shooting occurred on Kalamazoo’s north side last night, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

In a statement about the shooting posted on Facebook at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, the department said its crime lab was at the scene of the incident, located in the 600 block of Mabel Street.

The department noted that a large police presence would be expected and asked that the public avoid the area.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety could did not immediately respond to a request for additional information about the shooting.
