Saturday Night Live recently went through a cast exodus, but there's a bright side to the upsetting news. SNL hit a milestone with season 50, drastically increasing viewership and breaking the show's own record for number of Emmy Award nominations. Alas, after such a successful season, change was in the air for the SNL season 51 cast .

SNL creator Lorne Michaels promised a cast shake-up going into the new season, and he delivered on his word. Four cast members either quit or were let go ahead of season 51. Two writers also announced they would not be continuing with the sketch comedy show.

Five new comedians were hired to replace them, but such a big cast overhaul for SNL is still cause for concern . Luckily, something very positive came out of the big reorganization ,
