The city of Tempe is planning to raise water, wastewater and solid waste about 8.2% for the coming year.

The Sept. 2 virtual city council meeting had few public comments, and there were no comments on increasing the rates for water, wastewater and solid waste.

If approved, the move would mean Tempe residents would pay $98.40 per month on average for the three services, according to council documents.

Solid waste increases are recommended to increase 4.5% next year, with 4% increases through fiscal year 2029.

Water and wastewater rates are expected to come in much higher, with planned 12% increases in water rates and more than 16% in wastewater, according to a study prepared by Stantec .
