Coach put on leave after hazing investigations re-opened
Forensic interviews by Peoria Police for a criminal case alleging sexual assault hazing incidents among members of the Liberty High School varsity wrestling team are scheduled to take place in early September.
Peoria Unified School District recently placed Liberty High School varsity wrestling coach and history teacher Eric Brenton on paid administrative leave, after the district and Peoria Police Department recently reopened a case on alleged hazing incidents within the team.
Based on allegations that Brenton did not address hazing, investigators have been reexamining the wrestling coach, whose team won back-to-back championships in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.
