An investigation is underway after police said a hit-and-run crash in West Philadelphia left one person dead overnight.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the crash happened around 11:24 p.m. at the intersection of 57th Street and Chestnut Street on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025.

Police said a silver Ford Focus was traveling southbound on the unit block of 57th Street with a green traffic signal. A black Ford Explorer, traveling eastbound on the 5700 block of Chestnut Street, ignored a red signal and struck the Ford Focus.
