A long-awaited Nottingham library could now end up opening two years later than planned as the city council threatens legal action against developers. Campaigners and local residents continue to express their anger about how long it is taking for Sherwood to get its library back - with its old one having first been deemed not fit for purpose back in 2017.

The new facility was originally set to open in the summer of 2024 but progress has been delayed as contractors work to resolve defects across the site, with more than 100 issues identified at one stage. Many of those issues still remain, including cracked exterior windows, and Nottingham City Council's leader has now said that the summer of 2026
