Rather than preparing at home and purchasing baby clothes, expectant mothers serving jail sentences encounter a world filled with uncertainty, anxiety and distress.

Between 2022 and 2023, nearly 200 women were expecting babies in UK prisons, and these mothers-to-be face heightened risks of severe complications and perinatal mental health problems.
