KALAMAZOO, MI - Deputies with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Cooper Market Friday evening for a report of a break-in after business hours.
When deputies arrived at 11:16 p.m. Sept. 5, they found the suspect had used a brick to shatter the glass front door and made entry into the store at 8005 Douglas Ave.
Police said the 24-year-old man stole several items of merchandise and fled on foot before deputies arrived on the scene.
After gathering information from the store, police said they were able to obtain a physical description of the suspect. The man was located lying down next to a building a short distance away, police said.
Deputies took the 24-year-old into custody at the Kalamazoo County Jail without further incident, police said.
