The National Weather Service released a tornado warning at 1:56 p.m. on Saturday in effect until 2:30 p.m. for Columbia County.

Golf-ball-sized hail (1.75 inches) is anticipated with the incoming storm.

"At 1:55 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Copake, or 10 miles southwest of Great Barrington, moving northeast at 30 mph," states the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."

The tornado is projected to possibly affect Sheffield, Canaan, and Ashley Falls around 2 p.m.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Sodom, East Sheffield, Hartsville, Konkapot, Wangum Village
