ROCKFORD, Ill. — The City of Rockford announced a temporary security fence has been installed around the federal courthouse building in Rockford Saturday.
In a post to Facebook the City says "We recognize that this development may raise concerns or uncertainty within our community. Please know that we are actively seeking more information. As soon as we learn more, we will share updates to keep the community informed and reassured. Your safety remains our top priority."
The Mayor Tom McNamara said in another post, "What I can tell you right now is that the federal government did pull a permit to have a temporary fence in the right of way, I believe up until September 19."
He added the City is working with State and Federal officials to learn more information and will share updates as
