ATHENS, Ohio — West Virginia’s 4 p.m. contest at Ohio marks the Mountaineers’ first game at a Mid-American Conference foe since 2004 at Central Florida.
One week after 66 players saw their first action in a WVU uniform and 14 made their first start, the Mountaineers figure to learn much more about themselves against the Bobcats. WVU is a three-point favorite playing at a venue where OU has won seven straight and 17 of its last 18.
WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez is seeking his 192nd career victory and is currently fourth in wins among active FBS head coaches. Rodriguez is 1-0 against Ohio, with a win over the Bobcats back in 2001 when the teams last met. That was Rodriguez’s second game in his first WVU stint.
