LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sitting at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Karen and Greg Schulz say running for retiring U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell’s seat would be a natural stepping stone for Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.

“I would love to see him as our president, but I would feel more confident with him running for Senate first,” Greg Schulz told WHAS11 at a picnic table on Friday. "I think it would be pretty hard for him to make that step straight to the presidential run and to win across the country."

They say this even though Beshear has said he is only considering a possible run for president in the future.

Karen Schulz believes the governor when he says he is not interested in a bid for the U.S. Senate and plans to complete his second term.
