A severe thunderstorm warning was released by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 2:51 p.m. in effect until 3:30 p.m. for Staten Island.

The storms may bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail (0.75 inches).

"At 2:51 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Sayreville, or near New Brunswick, moving northeast at 50 mph," describes the weather service. "Expect damage to trees and power lines."

Expect the thunderstorm to possibly affect following locations:

Tottenville around 2:55 p.m.

Huguenot around 3 p.m.

Todt Hill and Oakwood around 3:05 p.m.

The Verrazano Narrows Bridge and Tompkinsville around 3:10 p.m.
