JONESBORO, Ark. – Ahead of their historic showdown with the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, the Arkansas State Red Wolves were dealt a painful blow to their season this week.

On Thursday, Red Wolves coach announced that running back Ja’Quez Cross would be out for the season with a torn ACL.

Cross, a native of Hampton, confirmed in a post on social media Saturday that he was done for the season, but would be back next season.

“To my A-State family and friends, I am hurt to announce that I’ve tore my ACL/MCL and will be out for the remainder of the season,” the post said. “I had many goals that I wished to accomplish this season with the help of my teammates, coaches and support from the A-State football fanbase, but God had other plans and I won’t question why this happened.
