HORNELL — Avon's offense didn't miss a beat Friday night, as the defending Section V Class D champions opened the season with a 27-6 win over Hornell/Arkport/Canaseraga.
The River Hawks totaled 435 yards of offense, with Evan Blye going 14 of 18 passing for 261 yards and three touchdown. Two of those scores found Kal Dolgos, who tallied 110 yards on five catches and also added a rushing touchdown. James Chase led the backfield with 126 yards rushing on 11 carries. Eli Rex caught two passes for 57 yards and a score.
