Controversy growing over Okanagan Falls incorporation

Boundary-Similkameen MLA Donegal Wilson is criticizing the BC NDP government for stalling the incorporation of Okanagan Falls, the province’s first new municipality in over 15 years.

Wilson says the Province’s opaque process, tied to DRIPA implementation and closed-door negotiations with the Osoyoos Indian Band, undermines the community’s democratic vote and leaves residents without proper representation. She calls for immediate issuance of letters patent, warning that current delays set a harmful precedent.

Wilson supports reconciliation but insists consultation must follow, not precondition, incorporation -- urging transparency and a renewed commitment to local governance and democratic accountability.
