CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Saturday night was the battle of the Carolinas in football, as UNC Charlotte hosted UNC Chapell Hill in college football.

WBTV caught up with tailgaters before the game on the UNC Charlotte campus to show how they show school spirit with a great gameday experience.

Jeff Strickland, Jeff Stewart, and Chip Wampler are die hard UNC Charlotte fans.

They all went to school there and are longtime friends that have been hosting a tailgate on campus for 12 years now.

Wampler showed WBTV what he calls the “Wampler Mobile Mine Shaft.”

“This is Norm coming out of a mine shaft. The original gym on the campus was the mine shaft, so I want him coming out of a mine shaft,” said Wampler.

The side of the “Mobile Shaft” is wrapped with a 49ers helmet and the field.
