The Winnipeg Blue Bombers lost quarterback Zach Collaros midway through Saturday’s Banjo Bowl against Saskatchewan.

With the Bombers leading 13-12 in the third quarter, a blitzing Roughriders defence victimized an unprotected Collaros, C.J. Reavis blindsiding the quarterback and leaving him on the turf for several minutes.

Teammates kneeled on the field as Collaros lay virtually motionless. Even Riders quarterback Trevor Harris was kneeling over his prone counterpart.

With the help of medical staff, Collaros finally got up, walked off the field and eventually jogged towards the tunnel to the locker-room.

He’d fumbled the ball away on the play, but the Bombers successfully challenged for a roughing-the-passer penalty and retained possession. Reavis had made head contact on the hit.
