UCF announced Tayven Jackson as the starting quarterback against North Carolina A&T on Saturday, marking Jackson’s first start of the season after transferring from Indiana during the offseason.

The Knights were missing their starting quarterback, Cam Fancher , who was sidelined due to an injury he sustained early in the second quarter of the previous week’s 17-10 victory over Jacksonville State.

Fancher, a redshirt senior, was replaced by Jackson, who stepped up remarkably, leading the Knights to two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The highlight was a 33-yard game-winning pass to receiver DJ Black with just 1:03 remaining on the clock.

Jackson, 22, had an impressive performance, completing 17 of 24 passes for 282 yards during the victory.
